Toshiba today announced that configurations of the new Qosmio X875 laptop will feature the industry's first 1 terabyte (TB) 2.5-inch high-capacity hybrid hard drive that brings a new level of high-speed read and write performance.

"We developed this new hybrid hard drive to give media creators, gamers and advanced users the best of both worlds—offering both high-capacity storage and speed," said Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "The new Qosmio X875 starts up games and transfers large amounts of data like HD photos and video faster than ever before, all while incorporating the latest high-performance processors, graphics and smart Toshiba innovations in a stylish package."

The in-house developed hybrid drive integrates 8GB of NAND flash memory as a cache in addition to a 1TB hard drive to support high-speed data throughput. As a result, the new Qosmio X875 not only delivers approximately 3.6 times faster read and write times than the current model, but it also reduces frequently used application start-up times by approximately 30 percent.

The new Qosmio X875 is powered by a 3rd Generation Intel Core processor that delivers amazing performance and stunning visuals boosted by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M graphics processor with 3GB of GDDR5 discrete graphics memory to take on graphics-heavy projects and the latest 3D games. The multimedia powerhouse laptop is encased in Toshiba's sophisticated Black Widow styling, featuring a diamond-textured aluminum body and a glowing red LED Qosmio logo on the cover with raised tile LED-backlit keyboard and 10-key numeric pad.

A 17.3-inch diagonal full 1080p HD TruBrite display offers the expansive screen real estate necessary for heavy duty gaming, content editing and multitasking, as well as better viewing and navigating Windows 8 and apps. The laptop includes built-in Harman Kardon Quad Speakers with Slipstream port technology that produce superior audio and SRS Premium Sound 3D that enhances the surround sound experience and can also be configured with a 3D-ready display that includes the NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Kit with Lightboost and a Blu-ray Disc Rewritable player.
