Panasonic Upgrades Toughbook T8 With Windows 7, Improved Processor, And Increased Storage
Panasonic Computer Solutions Company today announced upgrades to its business-rugged Toughbook T8 tablet-alternative notebook computer. Other improvements include the use of Windows® 7 Professional (with XP downgrade option) and Bluetooth® 2.1. The 3.3 pound device delivers up to 8 hours of battery life and is ideal for highly mobile professionals in markets like healthcare and field sales.
The Toughbook T8 also includes optional integrated Gobi™ mobile broadband technology from Qualcomm Inc. that allows connections to high-speed mobile Internet services offered by leading network operators virtually anywhere in the world. Panasonic Toughbook T8
Designed with input from “walking workers,” the Toughbook T8 features a 12.1” inch, anti-glare XGA touchscreen LCD, stylus, screen rotating software and convenient rubber hand strap for easy use.
The upgraded Toughbook T8 is based on Panasonic’s long history of engineering and manufacturing robust notebook computers that deliver the durability, reliability and connectivity essential to maximize productivity for highly mobile professionals, like those found in healthcare.
Real World Rugged
Like all Toughbook notebooks, the business-rugged Toughbook T8 has a magnesium alloy case and chassis, shock-mounted flex-connect hard drive and LCD, spill-resistant keyboard and flexible internal connectors for additional protection.
The upgraded Toughbook T8 is based on Panasonic’s long history of engineering and manufacturing robust notebook computers that deliver the durability, reliability and connectivity essential to maximize productivity for highly mobile professionals, like those found in healthcare.
The Toughbook® T8 has been tested using Mil-spec methodology, which outlines a procedure by which units are dropped onto plywood from 26 different angles, to test rugged performance on every corner, edge and surface. The Toughbook T8 successfully survived drops of 12” without damage. Additional Panasonic drop-testing requires the T8 survive a 30” drop (just over the typical height of a desk or table) to the base of the unit while it is operating.
The unique Panasonic spill-resistant keyboard design protects against liquid spills of about 6 ounces (200 cc), and both the lid and base of the notebook are designed to withstand more than 220 lbs (100 Kg) of pressure. In addition, Panasonic’s commitment to quality—at both the component and finished goods level—results in a total of more than 500 checks and tests during and after production.
Security Options Vital for Mission-Critical Computing
The Toughbook T8 provides significant data security features including trusted platform module (TPM) security chip v. 1.2, the Computrace® theft protection agent in the BIOS, a cable lock slot, password security and an optional fingerprint scanner.
Superior Warranty, Support and Professional Services
Every Panasonic Toughbook notebook includes a standard three-year limited warranty and free access to U.S.-based phone support for the entire life of the product.
Pricing and Availability
The upgraded Toughbook T8 is now available at an estimated base street price of $2,499. All Toughbook notebooks can be purchased from authorized Panasonic Toughbook resellers nationwide.
