Toshiba To Roll Out Laptops Featuring Intel's Penryn Technology

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced that its Qosmio®, Satellite® X205 and select models of the Satellite U305 notebook series will incorporate Intel’s new line of performance Core 2 Duo mobile processors — (codename Penryn) designed to deliver greater computing prowess to power the most demanding applications.

“Toshiba is pleased to be one of the first notebook manufacturers to incorporate Intel’s newest processing innovation into its mainstream consumer notebooks,” said Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. “The addition of these processors will enable us to provide our customers with notebooks that boast greater power and speed to efficiently accomplish more.”

New models of the Satellite X205 will use the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T8100 to drive gaming performance even higher, while the 4.5 pound1 Satellite U305 will harness the Intel Core2 Duo Processor T8100 to prove that mobility and performance are not mutually exclusive. The Qosmio G45 with the Intel Core2 Duo Processor T9300 will continue to lead the industry’s integration of HD DVD technology. Configurations of the Qosmio G45, Satellite X205 and Satellite U305 featuring the new Intel Core 2 Duo Processors will be available at www.toshibadirect.com, and at a variety of major consumer electronics and computer stores nationwide.

All new Toshiba notebooks are RoHS-compatible2, effectively reducing the environmental impact by restricting the use of lead, mercury and certain other hazardous substances.
